AFR 231 - Jazz Appreciation II

The American art form known as jazz has a rich history, well chronicled in audio and video performances. This course explores that history through the careers of jazz luminaries from 1950 to the present day who have influenced generations of jazz musicians. Also examined is the development of jazz styles and sub-genres and American social and cultural influences. Class lectures include audio, video and live jazz performances and discussion on the history and legacy of this unique American art form.
