RCP 360 - Ethical Issues in Respiratory Care

3 credit(s)
This course provides essential understanding of current medical issues. Students debate current ethical cases, and discussion follows each debate so that both pro and con positions are examined and understood. Students use real life, timely cases in medicine and apply the Natural Law Theory to provide a structure to the ethical discourse. Each participant is called upon to defend the position which is opposite to their current stance. Through this discussion the course attempts to expand the student’s understanding of different opinions and political views. In gaining a larger understanding of complex medical problems, this course strives to develop practitioners who can bring a more balanced and empathetic attitude to the profession of Respiratory Care specifically, and medicine in general.
Prerequisite(s): RCP 212 .
