Area/Group Designation: High Impact Practice: Learning Community
Designed to explore the use of statistical methodology in analyzing, interpreting, and presenting biological observations. The topics include descriptive statistics, basic concepts of probability, binomial and normal probability distributions, statistical inference, elements of hypothesis testing, and one- and two sample tests for means and proportions, and linear regression and correlation. Throughout the course the application of statistical techniques within a biological context will be emphasized, using data from literature.
Prerequisite(s): Biology major or permission of department chair.
