AFR 655 - Graduate Jazz Arranging

This course provides an in depth examination and discussion on the arranging styles and techniques of seminal Jazz artists including Fletcher Henderson, Duke Ellington, Gil Evans and Thad Jones. Through audio and video examples, class lectures provide historical perspective on the Jazz arranging process and its fundamentals. In addition, coursework includes small and large ensemble Jazz arranging projects.
Prerequisite(s): Hartt graduate student.
