AFR 603 - Analysis of the American Songbook


3 credit(s)
This course provides an in depth study of the American Songbook Standard literature of the early to mid-20th century. Formal analytic techniques address aspects of form, harmonic language and tonal design. Individual selections are studied from earliest harmonic styles of the first published sheet music versions and traced to contemporary approaches to re-harmonization.
Prerequisite(s): Hartt graduate student.
