MSF 282 - Montessori Psychology and Development in Montessori - Part 1

3 credit(s)
This course presents Dr. Maria Montessori’s developmental approach to the education of children and adolescents. Her theory of the four planes of development is taught and examined. Development is approached as human development, a continuum from birth through adulthood, and as also having critical periods for certain activities and for particular exposures at different ages. A range of disciplines (e.g. mathematics, history, language, music) is approached from the point of view of the psychology of the child during this period of his/her life.
