NUR 627 - Theoretical Basis of Nursing Education

This course provides the student with theory and application of the nurse educator role. Students will analyze the role of the nurse educator in a variety of educational and healthcare settings with emphasis on leadership, scholarship, and role management in nursing education. Students will actively engage in building curriculum, analyzing student assessment strategies, and evaluating outcomes of courses, curricula, and programs. Students will demonstrate role competency through experiential learning. The framework of this course is based on the National Leagues for Nursing’s NLN Core Competencies for Nurse Educators.
Prerequisite(s): Matriculation in the Master of Science in Nursing program.
