CS 451 - Computer Operating Systems

Introduction to the characteristics and components of modern operating systems. Topics covered include process and thread life cycle, synchronization, inter process communication, scheduling, memory management, file systems, user security and introduction to parallel and distributed systems. Students will pursue hands-on practice by deeper investigation of introduced or related topics.
Prerequisite(s): CS 211  or ECE 332 , and CS 220P .
