DFA 327 - Contemporary Dance Forms II 2 credit(s) This course will deepen the students’ understanding of contemporary technique as demonstrated in varied styles, methods and current trends grounded in traditional techniques on an intermediate level. The student will refine his/her contemporary technique through technical analysis, demonstration and exploration of artistic quality. This class will strengthen the dancer’s understanding of technique and artistry. It will further investigate an awareness of core muscle groups as they relate to the extremities and develop a deeper awareness of movement sequencing, coordination, and articulation. Focus will be on an organic awareness of the kinesthetic self in space and time, with a strong emphasis in nurturing artistic sensibility. Prerequisite(s): DFA 326 for Dance Performance and Ballet Pedagogy majors. Open to non-majors with extensive dance training by audition.
