DFA 122 - José Limón Technique I

2 credit(s)
This is the introductory level of a 3 part series of Limón technique. The preliminary warm-ups and center work will be framed within movement principles that are based on the techniques and philosophies of Doris Humphrey and José Limón. They will also employ somatic approaches to enliven the body for healthy functioning. Through the Humphrey/Limón vocabulary, we will address breath, dynamic alignment, coordination, and spatial awareness, along with fall/rebound/suspend patterning, opposition and successional flow, gesture and other salient Limón qualities. Locomotion and combinations will reference the Humphrey and Limón repertories.
Prerequisite(s): None for Dance Majors. The course is open to non-majors by audition.
