3 credit(s)

Topics to be examined include the Harlem Renaissance (1910-1930), the Chicago Black Renaissance (1930s-1950s), the Black Arts Movement (1965-1975), the Hip Hop Movement (late 1970s to present), and the links between these movements. Additional themes include race riots, lost cityscapes, and the quest for full citizenship and enfranchisement.
