APC 460 - Chamber Repertory Class I 1 credit(s) The weekly Chamber Repertoire Class prepares string and piano students for playing standard chamber works in their genre, being active and contributing members of a chamber group, and successfully navigating challenging instrumental parts. Each week, one to two different excerpts are assigned. These are coordinated with repertoire that students may be preparing either in their assigned chamber ensemble or upcoming auditions. The Fall semester repertoire is geared toward covering the most common standard repertoire for the enrolled instrumentalists as well as adequate preparation for relevant excerpts for summer festivals to which students may have to apply by December. Every aspect of the repertoire is explored from bowings, tempi, fingerings and dynamics. The strategic aspect of performing is given equal emphasis, with exercises given on how to be flexible during a concert, sleep preparation, and how to prepare mentally for any stressful contingency. Prerequisite(s): APC 260 ; open to Violin, Viola, Cello, and Piano students only.
