ROBO 201 - Introduction to Robotics

This course introduces the multidisciplinary concepts and definitions of various robotics engineering topics including perception, mobility, locomotion, navigation, planning, and control systems. Students are exposed to fundamental mathematical definitions, current methodologies, and their application areas. The domains that are covered include a wide variety of robotic applications. Laboratory experience includes the use of basic robotic sensors and actuators, data processing, power transmission, programming of embedded control systems, 3D modeling, and mechanical design. Students learn fundamental concepts on how to design, build, control, and test their own robots for various applications. Three hours of lectures and three hours of laboratories.
Prerequisite(s): CS 114, M 242, ES 110, and ECE 255 or equivalent.
