DFA 138 - Foundational Kinetic Patterns

.5 credit(s)
This course familiarizes students with somatic practices that build foundational body integration, efficient and effective movement functioning, and skill in complex coordination. It introduces the Bartenieff Fundamentals, Patterns of Total Body Connectivity, and Central Support Principles. Through discussion of theory and through studio practice, students will experience each element of the Fundamentals and Principles, and each progressive Pattern of Connectivity. The course is geared toward dancers, correlating the theories and practices directly to dance movement, and using them as tools to support technical improvement.
Prerequisite(s): Dance performance or ballet pedagogy majors; open to non-Majors by audition.
