MED 614 - Issues in College Teaching

In this course, students conduct an in-depth examination of the issues facing college and university music faculty members as a basis for designing a relevant and immediately applicable curriculum in any given chosen content area. Other schools of thought for designing curriculum and developing pedagogy and andragogy may be explored as well. Students will specifically examine curriculum development as well as professional development, current and practical information to improve the quality and effectiveness of instruction and assessment in the music classroom at all levels, designing assessments that measure student learning, and effective approaches to teacher evaluation.
Prerequisite(s): Graduate standing (Hartt School).
