MSOT 608 - Occupational Therapy Practice in Mental Health

Psychosocial aspects of human functioning and occupational implications of clinical conditions are explored in various settings across the continuum of care. Students will explore policies, theories, medical and pharmacological treatments, frames of reference, and occupational therapy approaches and therapeutic techniques for individuals with mental health diagnoses. Course content emphasizes client-centered, occupation-centered, and empowerment of client participation. Students will complete documentation for evaluation, treatment planning, goal setting, and discharge while keeping ethical issues that may arise in mind.
Prerequisite(s): MSOT 511 , MSOT 512 , MSOT 601 , and MSOT 603 . Corequisite(s): MSOT 609 .
