RAD 470 - CT Principles I

This course will introduce students to the principles of computed tomography (CT) imaging including radiation physics, safety and dose. Topics covered in the radiation physics component of this course include radiation interaction with matter, acquisition (geometry) and the physical principles (attenuation). Students will learn proper radiation protection including the concepts of minimizing patient exposure, personnel protection, shielding, dose measurement and patient dose reduction and optimization. Students will also gain insight into the basics of CT image formation.
Prerequisite(s): ARRT certification in radiography (R), current CPR certification, and appropriate state licensure, or permission of instructor.
