UISC 160 - Mediterranean Studies

This course is designed to provide a broad introduction to the encounters, contacts, and conflicts that shaped the Mediterranean region culturally, politically, and socially. The course focuses on the transmission of artistic, literary, scientific, and religious ideas and systems of thought. The main means of study is through primary texts supplemented with historical, art historical, and cultural criticism. (Formerly AUCW 160)
