EC 420W - Complexity Economics

This course is an introduction to complexity economics. The course is designed to develop an understanding of complexity science and the role it can play in understanding economic systems and actions. Some emphasis will be placed on the evolution of economic theory and analysis and how earlier thinking in economics anticipated complexity economics. Students will have the opportunity to explore agent-based modeling and other innovative approaches to economic analysis suggested by studying the economy and economic behavior as a complex adaptive system. Assignments are designed to stimulate thoughtful inquiry and discussion.
Prerequisite(s): EC 110 , EC 211  , and junior or senior status; or permission of instructor
