BIO 425W - Seminar in Life Science Writing


4 credit(s) Writing Intensive
Seminar on writing in the life sciences, culminating in a research project based upon the scientific literature. Students will create a review and critique of a contemporary topic in biology, using scholarly review articles as a model. Lectures and writing labs will include essential aspects of science writing while progressing towards completion of the project. The course will also cover the importance of written communication, the role of creativity and imagination in scientific advancement from a historical perspective, popular science writing, and the modern basic research paper (IMRAD).
Prerequisite(s): BIO 122  and junior or senior standing.
