MUM 360 - Music Publishing

This course provides a deeper understanding of how artistic ideas are developed into copyrighted works to be packaged into saleable products and brought to the modern market in a variety of formats. Topics in the course will cover strategies for strategic artistic development with historical and current analysis of the companies who were a part of Tin Pan Alley, the Nashville publishing circuit, artist rights advocate companies such as ASCAP/BMI, Harry Fox as well as other independent publishing entities that serve as the intermediary between creators and the modern publishing marketplace.
Prerequisite(s): MUM 120 .
