FIN 454 - Alternative Investments and Cryptocurrencies

This course explores the world of alternative investments such as investments in hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, and cryptocurrencies. The course is a combination of lectures, case studies and guest lectures that provide students with valuable insights and skills for anyone wishing to work in Hedge Funds or Private Equity or any institution investing in these assets. Topics include: risk-return profile of alternative investments, hedge funds strategies, private equity versus venture capital investment process, distressed debt and leveraged buyouts (LBOs), the basics of blockchain technology, cryptocurrencies, cryptocurrencies trading and cryptocurrencies exchanges and their impact on the financial sector.
Prerequisite(s): FIN 310 .
