COM 602 - Advanced Composition (MM)

3 credit(s)
Private composition instruction intended to advance students’ compositional technique and understanding of how their work fits into ongoing developments of compositional techniques, aesthetics, and technology. Individual strengths and needs are addressed through the mastery of both classical forms, technical studies, and the creation of new, original work. This is the first of a sequence of four semesters of intensive study and mentorship to lead the student to a level of understanding culminating in a Master of Music degree (MM). Students who complete this curriculum successfully will be qualified to continue work at a professional level in the field, or to move to a doctoral program in composition (DMA).
