Understanding privacy compliance for all types of data collected is important for individuals and businesses, especially businesses in the financial, medical and consumer areas. This course will discuss the concept of information privacy, data collection, corporate use and disclosure of data, compliance with data privacy, including the California Consumer Privacy Protection Act, General Data Protection Regulation, Health Insurance Portability and Protection Act, and data breach regulations and liability associated with the breach of data privacy. This course will review the laws, regulations, administrative enforcement actions and other relevant materials.
Prerequisite(s): Graduate standing.
