EDD 845 - Structural Equity in Classroom Assessment

3 credit(s)
Newer assessment perspectives in U.S. higher education recognize embedded subjectivities that influence teaching, learning, and assessments. These subjectivities should inform how instructors design assessments, collect and use data, and communicate assessment results to students and administration. In this course, students will learn about student learning assessment methods, use assessment results to inform instructional decisions, and develop grading practices that use assessment data. We will examine, critique, and find alternatives to the embedded systemic inequities that permeate classroom assessment practices, seeking more equitable options. Applying a critical, anti-racist lens, the course will critique previous and current views and practices of assessment and examine emergent forms that seek to correct inequity.
