ADT 484 - Design of Reinforced Concrete Structures for Architectural Design

Theory and applications of design concepts of reinforced concrete structures are studied. Flexural analysis and design of rectangular beams and T-beams, including serviceability requirements, are thoroughly studied. Behavior and design of one-way slabs are investigated and related to those of rectangular beams. Bond stresses, development lengths, and splicing requirements are also studied. Slenderness effects on the analysis and design of columns are investigated. Isolated spread footings as well as retaining walls are introduced. Three lecture hours.
Prerequisite(s): ADT 355 , MTH 233  (or equivalent), and PHY 122 ; or permission of instructor and chair.
