RAD 461 - MRI Procedures II

This course will introduce the student to MR imaging procedures of the thorax, abdomen, pelvis and musculoskeletal system. Anatomy and physiology with considerations for imaging planes, pathological considerations, protocol and patient considerations (i.e. pediatric, geriatric, bariatric, trauma) will be discussed. Patient exam setup including patient data input, coil selection and position, patient orientation, landmarking and physiologic gating and triggering, as well as contrast media and its effect on images will be reviewed. Finally, the student will be exposed to additional procedures such as CINE (CSF flow study, TMJs) and surgical planning for the thorax, abdomen pelvis and musculoskeletal system.
Prerequisite(s): RAD 460 , ARRT certification in radiography (R), current CPR certification, and appropriate state licensure, or permission of instructor.
