NUR 471 - Adult & Older Adult Health II

This course is the second of two Medical-Surgical theory courses that provide a basis for the generalist graduate nurse while building on NUR 201 , NUR 301 , pharmacology, and health and physical assessment. Medical Surgical Nursing is a specialty practice area where nurses promote, restore, or maintain optimal health for patients from 18 to older than 100 years of age (Academy of Medical Surgical Nurses, 2010). The concepts of health promotion, disease prevention, and critical disease processes for diverse adult and older adult populations are examined. Under direct supervision in clinical and laboratory settings, the student will function as a member of an interprofessional team to provide safe and competent patient care.
Prerequisite(s): NUR 360P  and NUR 370 . Corequisite(s): NUR 334W  and NUR 433P .
