POL 333 - Buying Global Change

3 credit(s)
Area/Group Designation: International Politics
Can ordinary people change the world for the better? Are they obliged to try? This class examines everyday efforts to alter global politics through such efforts as boycotts, buycotts and consumer practices such as purchasing fair trade products and sweat free clothing. Special focus will be given to consumerism but attention will also be given to Internet activism. It looks at the ethical ideas behind these actions as well as the practical prospects for enacting global change.
Prerequisite(s): Any POL 100-level class, or IS 100W , or POL 200W , or permission of instructor.
