PSY 557 - Stress & Well-Being

This course explores the definitions and theories behind stress. Students will learn about the biological and psychological aspects of stress and its consequences. Factors that create a stressful versus healthy work environment are considered. Evidence-based methods for managing stress and increasing well-being are explored. Students will engage in experiential stress management techniques such as breathwork, body awareness, and mindfulness to skillfully address stress and anxiety, and apply these strategies to build resilience in self and others.
Prerequisite(s): Matriculation in a psychology graduate program or permission of instructor.
