DPT 511 - Therapeutic Interventions

In this course, students will learn to design and implement physical therapy interventions concerned with exercise and biophysical agents for individuals with a variety of conditions. Topics in this course include are the mechanism and management of pain, the indications for use of biophysical agents such as thermal, cold, and electrical modalities, progression and regression of exercise programs based on individual responses, and mechanical and manual therapy techniques. The adaptation of use of biophysical agents and exercise based on cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, or the integumentary system will also be discussed. Documentation, billing, and ethical practices related to intervention techniques will be reviewed.
Prerequisite(s): DPT 500  and DPT 501 . Corequisite(s): DPT 512 .
