DPT 521 - Diagnosis and Intervention: Musculoskeletal Dysfunction in Upper Extremities 3 credit(s) This course provides an in-depth study of orthopedic injuries and disorders in the cervicothoracic spine and upper extremities. It covers etiology, pathophysiology, clinical findings, prognosis, and treatment approaches, including medical, surgical, and physical therapy methods. Students will learn to examine, evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with musculoskeletal disabilities and functional limitations. The course emphasizes exercise prescription, manual therapy, physical agents, and functional outcomes, along with risk reduction measures for potential musculoskeletal issues. It also addresses the psychosocial aspects of patient management and documentation. A critical review of research findings on musculoskeletal examination and intervention is included. Prerequisite(s): DPT 510 and DPT 519 . Corequisite(s): DPT 522 . Course fee.
