DPT 700 - Assistive Technology and Orthotics/Prosthetics

This course includes a review of the prescription, fitting, and training of various types of assistive technology and mobility devices used in physical therapy management of patients with a variety of disabilities. Topics including mobility assistive equipment including wheelchair prescription, standing and gait training devices, recreational equipment, vehicle modifications and home modifications will be reviewed. Mobility and support devices for extremities and trunk including Orthotics and prosthetic components and prescription based on patient presentation will also be reviewed.
Prerequisite(s): DPT 515.
