DPT 515 - Foundational Clinical Seminar I

This course examines the professional implications of earning a clinical doctorate and outlines the expectations for clinicians at the doctoral level. It establishes professionalism standards aligned with the American Physical Therapy Association and the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences. Students will explore evidence-based practice, and the key components required to become an evidence-based practitioner. The course will also cover community, peer, professional, and patient education, including how to write goals and objectives and assess educational needs. Discussions will include disability policy and the social, cultural, legislative, financial, and demographic aspects of disability, with a focus on disability rights and current topics in disability and disability policy.
Prerequisite(s): Physical therapy major.
