GS 100D - Introduction to Gender and Sexuality Studies

3 credit(s) High Impact Practice: Diversity and Global Learning
This course explores a range of theoretical approaches to the study of gender and sexuality, laying the foundation for the minor in gender and sexuality studies. Students examine and critically analyze gender and sexuality theory and its sources. The course approaches gender and sexuality as fundamental categories of analysis, with careful attention paid to the intersection of race and class. Its emphasis on theory that is anchored in both the humanities and the social sciences prepares students for subsequent gender and sexuality studies courses.
