HLM 422W - Survey of Vocal Literature

This course examines German and French art song from the 18th to the 20th centuries, with emphases on the styles, forms, and poetry that characterize this body of music. In exploring the work of established composers as well as their less-well-known contemporaries, this course focuses primarily on lectures, critical listening, and in-class participation.
