HTA 347 - Stage Management for Dance

Stage Management for Dance is a course for undergraduate students introducing principals and techniques of stage management as it relates specifically to dance. This course is designed as an introduction to the special responsibilities of a stage manager for dance productions and introduces students to the history, development, philosophy, and practical skills essential to this unique art form and its presentation. Students will explore the various procedures, vocabularies, safety requirements, backstage procedures and rehearsal etiquette to work effectively in the professional dance context. Students will create prompt books/cue sheets using Spatial/Movement Pattern notation suitable for professional use. In addition, students will develop critical analysis and communication skills that will enable them to work with a variety of choreographic styles and approaches.
Prerequisite(s): HTA 143P .
