HLM 314 - Lute Tablature

This is an introductory course designed to acquaint the student with the tablatures used for the vihuela, Renaissance lute and German Baroque lute, their history and realization into modern notation. This will be accomplished through weekly transcriptions of specific tablatures into arrangements for the classical guitar. The goal of the transcriptions is to produce historically accurate reflections of the original tablatures in the form of professional performing editions. One hour weekly.
