ART 218 - The Meaning of Art

This course introduces students to key topics in the philosophy of art. Some topics to be considered include: the nature of “the beautiful” and “the sublime”; the relationship between art and knowledge; and the difference between different art forms (e.g., architecture, sculpture, painting, music, and tragic drama).
