POL 334 - Politics of Global Tourism

3 credit(s)
Tourism has been called the largest single industry in the world. Each year a billion and a half tourists cross international borders. Among those who study the activity, tourism is controversial. Does it foster human understanding, or reinforce stereotypes? Does it lead to peace? Does it promote economic development? Does it harm the environment, or aid in its protection? This survey course helps answer those and additional questions.
Prerequisite(s): POL 200W  or IS 100W  or permission of instructor.
