CS 673 - Master’s Thesis I 3 credit(s) This course is required for the Master of Science in Computer Science with a thesis option. A thesis seeks to create new knowledge through student research, trying to prove or argue a hypothesis, rather than just investigating a topic. The purpose of this course is to choose a research area, identify research questions, prepare a research plan, and write and defend a thesis proposal. Based upon the thesis proposal and thesis work completed in this course and with the approval of the thesis committee, students will follow this course with CS 674 - Master’s Thesis II , to complete their final thesis writing and defend their thesis. The course is graded on a Pass/No Pass basis. Prerequisite(s): Must complete the following three Core courses: CS 555 , CS 557 , and CS 567 ; and at least two major elective courses; and permission of instructor.
