This course lays the foundation for studying Shakespeare and heightened text through rehearsal and performance exercises, research, discussion, scene work, and analysis. It reinforces the importance of learning classical text through a disciplined commitment to voice, speech, movement training, and intellectual rigor in dissecting text. The focus is on the work of the actor’s instrument as they prepare for heightened language, stakes, and relationships. Students will prominently employ writing and detailed discussion as a method of learning.
Prerequisite(s): HTA 231P; music theatre or actor training majors only.
