M 106 - Mathematics for Liberal Arts

This course is intended for students in non-STEM majors that do not require a specific math course to fulfill the mathematics general education requirement. The goal of this course is to strengthen the student’s mathematical literacy via logical reasoning and problem solving. In this course, students explore real-world applications of a variety of mathematical topics at an introductory level. The core topics are voting methods and financial mathematics. Additional topics are selected by the instructor and may include: logic, set theory, probability, statistics, game theory, graph theory, quantitative representations, geometric symmetry and mathematics in art.
