RAD 460 - MRI Procedures I

This course will introduce the student to magnetic resonance (MR) imaging procedures of the head, neck and spine. Anatomy and physiology with considerations for imaging planes, pathological considerations, protocol and patient considerations (i.e. pediatric, geriatric, bariatric, trauma) will be discussed. Patient exam setup including patient data input, coil selection and position, patient orientation, landmarking and physiologic gating and triggering, as well as contrast media and its effect on images will be reviewed. The student will be exposed to additional procedures such as CINE and surgical planning for the neurologic system.
Prerequisite(s): ARRT certification in radiography (R), current CPR certification, and appropriate state licensure, or permission of instructor.
