ENG 143 - Introduction to British Literature


3 credit(s)
This course introduces students to major authors, texts, and themes in British literature from c. 800 CE to the present. Key themes include the evolution of “British” identity through different linguistic and cultural influences, the most significant features of literature from different periods (including the Middle Ages, Renaissance, Enlightenment, Romantic, Victorian and Modernist eras), and the changing roles of gender, race, and sexual identities in literature and literary production.
