MED 123 - Keyboard Essentials for Classroom and Ensemble Instruction

This course is designed to prepare music education undergraduates with essential piano skills for effective teaching in K-12 classroom and ensemble settings. Students will develop foundational keyboard proficiency by studying chord progressions and harmonization, transposition, and playing simple songs in various keys with accurate technique. Emphasis will be placed on practical applications, including leading vocal warm-ups and providing accompaniments tailored to educational contexts. Through hands-on activities and collaborative exercises, students will gain the confidence and versatility needed to incorporate piano seamlessly into their teaching practice.
Prerequisite(s): APC 122 .
