ED 100D - Rethinking DisAbility in the Helping Professions

3 credit(s) High Impact Practice: Diversity
This course offers an interdisciplinary exploration of quality of life focusing on the meaning, nature, and consequences of disability. With a strong emphasis on advocacy, you will engage directly with the lived experiences of individuals with disabilities at local, national, and global levels. In this course, a Disability Studies perspective is used to examine fundamental rights, freedoms, and dignity. An emancipatory approach is used to consider ways to remove barriers and foster environments where everyone can thrive. This is an opportunity to study pressing societal issues while working towards a more inclusive world for all.
