ART 325W - African-American Arts


3 credit(s) Writing Intensive
This course examines the long and multiple trajectories of African-American arts, looking at a range of practices and contextualizing them in terms of broader social and political histories in the United States and around the globe. The schedule will be arranged chronologically (19th century-present) and thematically, in order to permit broad comparative analyses of stylistic, philosophical, and political movements including the Harlem Renaissance and the Black Arts Movement.
Prerequisite(s): Any 200-level ART course or permission from instructor.
