MPT 120 - Introduction to Home Music Production

This course is an introduction to Digital Audio Workstations to support songwriting and recording in a home studio environment as well as applications such as podcasting and video editing. Class meetings will be focused on learning software features, understanding plugin functionality, and demonstrating mixing techniques. These learning goals will help students write their own music, explore sonic effects, and collaborate with other musicians and artists in creative outlets. At the completion of this course, students will understand microphone application, recording session organization, overdubbing, technical ear training, midi sequencing with virtual instruments, and integration with video. This course fulfills the participatory arts requirement of the general education curriculum.
