This is a production-based course that provides an introduction to the tools of sports production beyond the studio. Students learn about aspects of covering live sports events for media with hands-on training and receive professional experience in these projects working on production teams that will produce programming to be aired on The UHart Sports network. These productions created in cooperation with University of Hartford Athletics using a state-of-the-art ESPN mobile production studio trailer. Topics include broadcast cameras, video operations and engineering, graphics and data integration, playback systems (instant replay), audio, directing, producing and on-camera performance. The course stresses collaborative teamwork where students work in teams to ensure that the sports broadcast happens in a professional manner.
Prerequisite(s): CMM 324.
